christian living in today's world

Christian living in today's world calls for us to become true followers of Christ. While applying biblical truths, we demonstrate His love to the world around us as we live for Him on a daily basis.

As a believer in Christ, have you noticed that Christianity today has seemingly become more "watered-down" than it has ever been from years past? I often think that if Jesus were to come back down to earth now, it would sadden and anger Him tremendously to see how we have allowed more of the world's views and desires rule our own personal lives, instead of leaning on Him solely and trusting His lead for everything we do.

Living for Christ today with all of its uncertainties can become daunting at times and quite overwhelming for every Christian who truly loves the Lord and who desires to live for Him, while fulfilling His purpose in their lives.

the call to christian living

As believers in Christ, we are called by God to teach, preach, and to spread the gospel by whatever means necessary through the Holy Spirit's leading. Jesus commanded His disciples to do so in Mark 16:15, "And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (KJV) This was then and will continually remain to be THE CALL and THE GREAT COMMISSION, in which Jesus not only called His disciples in that day to go out and proclaim the gospel, but it continues to remain as that same "call" for each and every person today who will claim Jesus Christ, the Messiah, as His Lord and Savior.

When you first believed on Jesus Christ, you suddenly became reborn into Him kingdom and were given all the rights and privileges as His dear child. John 1:12 tells us, "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." And in Matthew 22:14, it reminds us, "For many are called, but few are chosen."

The call of God is true and is assured to every believer who will follow and trust Him. Throughout the scriptures there are various passages that urge us to heed His call, to go out there and be a witness for Christ.  This is what true Christian living is all about!

Our redemption was made possible through Jesus's work on the cross and so we are then able to live out our Christian faith victoriously!  Our Lord tells us how in 2 Timothy 1:9, "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began." 2 Peter 1:10-11 commands us, "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall."

the challenges of christian living

As a believer and follower of Christ, it is most certain you too have experienced various challenges while living out your faith. You may be a very new Christian or a seasoned one who has had many years of walking faithfully with the Lord. Whatever the case may be, no doubt the challenges you may face and have faced already will strengthen and prepare you for His will, work, and purpose in your life.

Within the pages of this website, you will find biblical answers to many of these issues and challenges of believers. I trust and pray as I share with you some of my own experiences as a Christian, that they might bless and uplift you in some way as well.

These challenges that come along in a Christian's life are many--sometimes too many to count, but they are all important to God as He is loving and patient with us in helping us get through them. The following are those that will be discussed on this particular platform in regards to Christian living and how God teaches and reveals them to us within the pages of His word:

Your Home Life: Now, this is where life can really get tough sometimes. Living and modeling a spiritual life with and around family members can be a challenging matter, especially if there are those members of your household who are not saved or who do not believe as you do. But this is also where you demonstrate the love of Christ by example on a daily basis, such as towards your spouse, boyfriend/girlfriend, children, grandparents, in-laws (or out-laws as some call them), and other family members, and yes, even around your sweet adorable pets!

Your Workplace: It's hard enough as it is just to get to work on time, do the work that's required, and within the set time-frame given everyday without losing your cool, or being in a bad mood with your boss or co-workers. You may be surprised to find that changing your attitude, demonstrating punctuality, applying honesty, integrity, humility, and keeping a clear conscious/reputation as a Christian believer, will allow for greater opportunities to share your faith with others as you work beside them.

Your Finances: Jesus had much to say on the subject of money and finances, and what it all means in terms of your desires, possessions, savings, spending, or holding on to those treasures you hold dear in life. Believe it or not, how you think about money says a lot about your faith in Christian living.

Your Values In Life: What do your values say about how you live your life as a follower of Christ? The Bible will enlighten you on how to think and behave as a child of God. At times we don't realize how we are portraying ourselves out there in the world to those who have not yet heard the gospel message. God's Word gives instruction on how we are to examine everything in our lives in order to live according to His way, which is to honor and bless His name. As you live a spirit-filled, Christ-centered life, His values then become your very own.

Your Worship To God: Many followers of Christ believe that true Christian living means just showing up for church on Sunday morning for a few hours, singing a few hymns, praying a few prayers, listening to a good sermon, and giving their tithes every Sunday accounts for good worship. However, as we go through the Scriptures, you will see that they reveal so much more to worshiping our Lord than just those few important things.

Christian Ministries: The Holy Spirit administers to each believer particular spiritual gifts, which the Lord has allowed each of us to have and apply, in helping to build and uplift the body of Christ. These can be used and demonstrated within the various areas of Christian service, such as foreign or home missions, child evangelism, youth ministries, and the like.

Single Christian Living: Singleness has its own set of challenges, which will be discussed here. You may be in this group of believers who are single as well, whether it happens to be that you have never married, or are divorced, widowed, or what have you. The special circumstances of being single make for various exciting ways to serve the Lord and to point others to Christ through your witness and testimony as a single Christian man or woman. Finally, we will discuss...

  • Christian Living Resources:  These will be searched out resources that are biblically-sound and fundamentally-founded through scripture.  They will be given as an aid in dealing with some of those tough issues we go through in our everyday lives as Christians.

My prayer is that through the pages of this website, you and your family will be uplifted and encouraged to continue to live the Christian life in a victorious and effective way, and that many of the topics discussed here will give you the tools necessary to be the salt and light to those who have yet to come to Christ.  May the Lord bless you as you continue to live for Him and serve His purpose in your life.
