Christian ministries bring the Good News to people all around the world who have never heard about Jesus. This is fundamental of the Great Commission.
Have you ever dreamt of going off to another foreign country to become a missionary? I surely did, right after becoming a believer at the age of ten. I wanted it more than anything, but for some reason God did not have that in His plan for me. It didn't matter if it were Asia, India, Mexico, or for that matter, Timbuktu! Even at that young age I felt ready to go.
Well, I grew up in a loving spiritual home, where my father was a minister for many years at a local church, and although I learned about missions and other forms of ministering to people, it was at a biblical college that my eyes became opened to the vast joys and opportunities that awaited me in serving the Lord through other ministries.
When going out to share your faith with others, it is important to know and remember that God is with you and will pave the way for you, wherever it may be. His Word guides us and reveals to us all the reasons for telling others of His Good News.
Consider yourself as an ambassador of Christ when pointing others to Him. Our Heavenly Father created us solely for His purposes, not our own. Through Jesus's precious blood, He bought you and now owns you. 1 Corinthians 6:20 clearly reminds us of this truth as it states, "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Hey, I think that just settles it right there!
Your Christian witness and testimony matter. Here are a few scripture passages that show you how the Lord commands and expects His people to spread the Good News and evangelize the world. These are all direct and powerful commands:
As you can see here throughout scripture, our Lord was very clear-cut within these directives for our Christian calling as to what it means to be His true followers and disciples in a lost and dying world.
Part of loving Christ and serving Him is that we share the gospel to those who have not heard about Him or who don't know Him. We know how our Lord feels about this in Proverbs 11:30, where it instructs us that, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise."
For instance, if you see someone who is walking in the path of a poisonous snake that is ready to strike, you would warn that person of the incoming danger, wouldn't you? The same applies to that of those lost souls whom you may encounter along the way in life. Do not be afraid to warn other sinners of their impending doom to hell by showing them the way to salvation. Use every chance to do so, leaning on the Holy Spirit to guide and direct you to those people as you share Christ's love with them.
There are tons of ways and opportunities to share your faith within various Christian ministries as well. Here are just a few of them you might want to consider looking into:
Become A Missionary: Missions is a wonderful area in which to share the gospel. There are opportunities in foreign as well as domestic mission fields. This takes true commitment and service and can be a very challenging but rewarding ministry for you and your family. Here you will have to do your research to see what you options are. |
Child Evangelism Ministries: This can include a vast array of ways to connect with children in ministry, such as those of puppet ministries, bus ministries, hospital ministries (for sick children), Vacation Bible School ministries, After-School Ministries, and so on. During my college years I personally worked in child evangelism and found it so exciting very rewarding! |
Youth Ministries: A few interesting ones here are Youth Town, Teen Challenge USA, substance abuse ministries, small groups, winter coat ministries, ministries for teen pregnancy, Inner City and youth outreach ministries. |
College Ministries: Campus Crusade For Christ, Jews For Christ, small groups, Food Hunger Ministry, Homeless Ministries, Christian singles groups, Campus Church groups/ministries, social media ministries, campus outreach projects/programs within the community. |
Women's Ministries: Outreach to mothers in need for: babysitting, home bible-study groups, domestic violence, and substance abuse, abortion, divorce, alcoholism, depression Proverbs 31 Ministry. |
Men's Ministries: Bible-study groups, nursing home ministries, hospital/Chaplan ministries, Pastoral ministries, prison ministries, anger management groups, going door to door witness teams, and so on. |
Well this is just a small list, but I am sure that you can find even more opportunities out there to share your Christian testimony. Perhaps you may want to start your own type of ministry. Wherever you find there's a need, fill it. Just look around you, in and out of your own community. That is how ministries are started. People everywhere are hurting and need to hear the gospel to be saved.
In conclusion, consider this thought: Your Christian testimony matters. You never know who God will send your way, or perhaps to bring you into the path of people who truly need to hear your words in helping them come to the Lord. Don't fight the fear of speaking out for Jesus. Just realize that it is not you who saves others, but it is God who does that. You are the messenger whom He works through--whatever ministry you decide to choose. Allow the Lord to use you in a mighty way in bringing lost souls into the kingdom and giving Him all the glory for it!
