True worship of God demonstrates your love, praise, and thanksgiving to the One who is sovereign over all!
When you think of how you honor Christ in your personal, family, or work life, what comes to mind? Do you simply give Him "lip service", or have you been faithful in obeying and serving Him? Throughout my earlier years of walking with the Lord, I too had questioned myself on this issue various times on occasions. And, I still do.
We want to know as believers that God is pleased with us in our worship and service to Him. But is He? In John 4:24 it says that," God is a spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." This one verse speaks volumes to us; meaning that a half-hearted form of worship just won't do. It will not be acceptable in God's eyes.
This is what I see in our so-called "Christian culture" today. I have visited many churches, some quite small and others with huge congregations and have seen a common thread in that many Christians seem to just play church. Some people have grown up in the church, attended Sunday School classes, were raised singing in the choir, or have taken leadership positions in the church without really questioning their own faith or evaluating their worship and devotion to God.
When you serve and praise God, is it for show, or is your heart really sincere and full of thanksgiving to Him for all that He has done for you and all that He means to you?
Think about the true value of your salvation and how Jesus paid the full price for your redemption. When you take some time to evaluate and analyze your Christian life according to God's Word, you might be amazed of those things that come to your attention. Here are a few scripture verses that may help you see where you stand with God when it comes to worshiping and serving Him in spirit and in truth:
Usually, when we want something done, we want it done in the right way, and therefore, we need the tools that help us perform that task. I feel the same when it comes to giving God our true worship.
He wants us to love and serve Him with the whole self--the body, heart, mind, and soul. How do we do this? The following is a list of spiritual tools and biblical concepts, which we will discuss in further detail throughout this website, and which will help you in learning more about how to follow Christ-- truly worshiping Him in the ways He deserves:
The Christian Church: Here we will discuss what particular spiritual elements a true Bible-believing, Christ-centered church should have; its doctrinal beliefs, its views on missions, visiting others in small groups, how to choose the right church for your family, and so on. |
Christian Music: What constitutes true worship music, the worship and praise team, lyrics and sounds from the music played, should it be only hymns, Christian rap, Christian contemporary? |
Question your personal Christian growth: Is it rooted and grounded in love? Is it helping you to worship God in the deepest core of your being? If there is no growth in your spiritual life, you will have much soul searching to do, perhaps even that of your own salvation. |
Godly Discipline: Are you setting aside time for bible studies, devotions, prayer, witnessing to others, meditating on His word, memorizing scripture. Various Bible study tools can help you learn about how to worship God in the right way. He will reveal all things to you. |
Finally, obeying God is all areas of life show Him that you love Him and value Him as your Heavenly Father. When you know the Father's love for you, realizing just how great and majestic it is, you will uplift his name without reservation. Let your praises and thanksgiving come from a heart that is pure and clean. Sell out to the Lord, in everything! In this way you can be assured that you are worshiping Him only in spirit and in truth.
