creating Newness of life in body, mind, and spirit through jesus christ

Creating newness of life in body, mind, and spirit through Jesus Christ is the only way to change your entire world around from your former life to one that is in unison with God.

Perhaps when you think about changing yourself, or starting over in life in some shape or form, you may think about getting a new haircut, a new style of clothing, or working out at the gym to reduce your weight, or something physically noticeable such as these things. However, Jesus Christ is the only one who can change you from the inside out!

It's true that you may change your mood somewhat from negativity to positivity by attempting to change your outer shell, but if your heart has not been renewed and regenerated through Jesus Christ, then all your attempts of creating a new life become futile.

Consider all the many ways your life is affected even now as you look at your outside world from the perspective you have on it, coming from the inside.

If Jesus has saved you, then you see the world so differently, and therefore; you are compelled to approach the world's system in a completely different light; one that is separate from you.

Here it tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" Yes, the saints of God are so different from the world.

creating newness of life through your body

We all know how our bodies deteriorate from year to year and that's how the Lord made us. From the moment of birth, until the day we die, our bodies have a time frame and time limit. Many times they show the wear and tear we put upon them as well.

If you and I do not take care of our bodies, we are destroying the mortal house God put our spirits in. It's supposed to last us until we have served His purpose for us here on earth.

Eating well and in a healthy way, exercising or keeping your body fit, and not overtaxing it, or putting harmful things in it has been said by health experts to extend it for a longer period of time. I do believe however, that it is God who knows the expiration date of every human being He created.

Yes, we are to treat our bodies as God intended it, and to not destroy or neglect this wonderful earthen vessel we have. God will honor you as you take care of what He has so graciously ordained and given you. Creating a way for God to use you as an instrument for Him and His purpose is what honors and pleases Him.

We are all guilty to some degree or another in destroying our bodies by neglecting them, or putting harmful foods and substances in them, or by just living a sedentary lifestyle which slows our bodies down. We can have optimal experiences within our own bodies if we just treat them well. I for one, am guilty of this from time to time also.

Our dear Lord has given us His instructions within His Word on how we should treat our bodies and use them for His glory only! Consider these passages of scripture as you think about how you treat and use your own vessel:

  • 3 John 1:2 says, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
  • Luke 21:34-35 says, "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth."
  • 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us, "What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
  • Romans 12:1 reminds us, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
  • Luke 12:22-23 says also, "And He said unto His disciples, 'Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.'"
  • 1 Timothy 4:8 says, "For bodily exercise profiteth little; but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come." Finally we read in...
  • Colossians 3:17, it says, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him."

creating newness of life through your mind

"An idle mind is the devil's workshop", so says H.G. Bohn, from the Handbook Of Proverbs. Many have thought this quote to be taken from scripture, but it's actually not. There are other verses similar to this line of thought, however; which demonstrate how idleness can be harmful to one's thinking and behaviors.

  • 1 Timothy 5:13 says, "And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers and also busybodies, speaking things which they ought not."
  • 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 says, "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eatFor we hear that there are some which walk among your disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread."

Of course idleness can be seen as being lazy or slothful at one's work, and in one's thinking. It affects everything you do or say actually. There are many people of different cultures who believe in clearing their minds through the practices of yoga and meditation. That is clearly what God does NOT want us to do. Because in clearing your mind, you are creating an environment of darkness, inviting the influences of Satan inward to do his dirty work in your mind and thinking processes.

Scripture supports this within these passages:

  1. Matthew 12:43-45 reports that, "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, 'I will return unto my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation."
  2. Romans 12:2 tells us, "And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God."
  3. Isaiah 26:3 exhorts us, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee."
  4. 1 Peter 1:13 says. "Wherefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." Lastly,
  5. Philippians 4:8-9 says, " Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise; think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."

Creating newness of life within your spirit

While creating newness of life within your spirit, you will want your complete self to be in unison with God and seeking out His purpose for you. Allow your own spirit to be lead through the Holy Spirit's leading and guidance. He will never steer you wrong.

When you go the way of the flesh, you will get into trouble every time! I know of this within my own personal life, as I've tried to go in the path of self, which consequently, led me on the path of heartache and destruction.

The Bible is there to show you and give daily instructions on how we are to be led by the Spirit. Here are a few wonderful passages of scripture to learn and stand on when being tempted to go your own path:

  • Psalm 51:10 says, "Create in me, a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."
  • Ezekiel 11:19 also says, "And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new Spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh."
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
  • Psalm 51:17 also says, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."
  • Titus 3:4-6 tells us, "But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior." And finally,
  • Colossians 3:9-11 reminds us, "Lie not to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him: where there in neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free; but Christ is in all, and in all."

In conclusion, consider all these vital and important ways in creating newness of life in Jesus Christ. Our bodies, minds, and spirits should always be guided and guarded by a renewed Spirit, found only in Jesus Christ. He bore our sin and shame at the cross of Calvary, and for that we can give all credit and glory to God, who placed His Son in our stead.

Ask the Lord daily to continue to create a renewed heart and spirit within you, so that you can honor Him with your whole self, giving Him the glory that is due Him. May the Lord bless you as you walk in newness with Him.
